Artist statement
My practice focuses on the built environment: the form and materials that compose it as well as the ideas that they embody. Using entropy as my collaborator I seek to make visible, through representation, the temporality of what surrounds us. Using sculpture in addition to photographic and video mediums I create works that -as the subjects- mutate and decay through time.
It is through the manipulation of material that I can challenge the expectations of what a photograph is. My images are more than records of something in the world; they embody the questions that drive my practice.
I tend to work around projects that focus on specific structures, materials or particular cultural/social issues. Usually inspired by a simple question I dive into my research and end up developing several pieces that tackle different interests within the research but are a part of the same body of work.
